Política monetaria: es el conjunto de medidas que adopta la autoridad monetaria con el propósito de buscar la estabilidad del valor del dinero, igualmente, evitar el desequilibrio en la balanza de pagos; las medidas que toma dicha autoridad afectan la oferta monetaria que es el volumen de dinero que se encuentra disponible en la economía de un país.
Política cambiaria: es la implementación de instrumentos y medidas aplicadas por un gobierno, con el objetivo de regular el tipo de cambio de una moneda, esta política busca controlar el tipo de cambio ideal de una divisa puesto que el tipo de cambio tiene efectos diversos sobre la economía de un país y es definitiva en el manejo de la inflación, en las importación y exportaciones y esto a su vez se refleja en el empleo y el crecimiento de la economía.
Dentro de una política monetaria es pertinente evaluar si una política de intervención cambiaria es coherente con el logro de las metas de inflación, además se debe evaluar si la política de intervención es consistente con el esquema operativo de una estrategia de inflación, con el fin de garantizar la consistencia entre ambas políticas. creo que al ser la política monetaria la que plantee determinadas medidas para buscar la estabilidad del dinero en un país se evita en gran medida la vulnerabilidad del país ante crisis económicas como la que ocurrió recientemente, como se pudo observar durante esta crisis Colombia aun siendo un país subdesarrollado contaba con una preparación que evito que su economía cayera, en lugar de eso se pudo observar que la economía de Colombia creció; respecto a la política cambiaria lo que esta busca es regular el valor de la moneda y mantener su estabilidad, la política cambiaria es parte de la política monetaria y es en si misma un conjunto de instrumentos que permite controlar el tipo de cambio ideal de una divisa pues esta es de gran importancia para el control de la inflación del país.
